Thorrington School is divided into three Learning Teams (Syndicates), creating three schools within the School. Below is an explanation of the Teams as well as links to the Team Leaders and which Home Bases are contained within each Team.
Timatanga (Beginning - Introduction - Commencement)
Year 0 - 2
Timatanga refers to starting something new. Timatanga begins the transition to school from Pre School and the commencement of school life for the students in the Team. Timatanga students are introduced to many ideas and concepts that will follow them through their school life at Thorrington.

Whanaketanga (Growing and Developing)
Year 3 - 4
Tuakana (Supporting - Teaching - Leading)
Year 5 - 6
Tuakana refers to the relationship between an older person (tuakana) and a younger person (teina). Within teaching and learning contexts, this can take a variety of forms:
- Able to Less Able - The Learner may not be as able in an area, and someone more skilled can teach what is required
