Sport
There are numerous sporting events and opportunities for students at Thorrington School.

Term 1
Swimming for Year 5-6 students with those competing at school sports eligible to progress to Zone of Canterbury (Inter-zone) competitions.

Terms 2 and 3
Term 2 sees the Cross Country for Year 4-6 students. Again those competing at the school sports become eligible to progress to Zone or Canterbury (Inter-zone) competitions.

Thorrington enters teams from Year 5 and 6 into the Canterbury Winter Sports competitions during Terms 2 and 3. These include; Hockey, Soccer, Netball and Rugby.  In some years the children competing in these sports are eligible to progress to Zone or Canterbury (Inter-zone) competitions.


Term 4
During Term 4 the focus turns to Athletics. A senior-school athletics competition is held and some students in Year 4-6 are eligible to progress to Zone or Canterbury (Inter-zone) competitions. Often this is one of our biggest teams that go out representing the school. The middle school and junior school also run a non-competitive Athletics day.
